Julie Thomson, President
Julie grew up in Santa Maria, California and went to Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, where she earned her degree in Economics in 1993. Afterwards, she moved to Napa where she worked at a winery doing accounts receivables.
In 1996, Julie’s dad, Terry, who had his own CPA firm asked if she wanted to move to Las Vegas and learn public accounting. Julie accepted his offer and in 1997 she passed the exam to become an Enrolled Agent, which is different than a Certified Public Accountant.
An Enrolled Agent is the highest credential awarded by the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled Agents are licensed by the U.S. Treasury Department and can work in any state, while CPAs, who offer a broader scope of accounting expertise, such as financial planning, are licensed by each individual state.
Enrolled Agents specialize in taxation and are tax experts. EAs manage taxes for businesses or private entities. They offer tax advice, file taxes, and represent their clients in tax audits and appeals before the IRS. Enrolled Agents also have a wide range of knowledge in such tax related subjects as income tax, estate tax, gift tax, payroll tax, levies, returns, inheritance tax, non-profit and retirement taxes.
Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends at home, cooking and venturing out to new places. She loves spending time at the beach as well as in the mountains.
Terry Thomson, Founder & Past President
Founder of Thomson & Associates, Terry Thomson has decades of experience as a tax consultant and financial advisor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic College. He has been certified to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent since 1990.
Terry provides uncommon expertise, depth of knowledge and an easy-going demeanor to all his clients. He is now semi-retired.
